Project Bunny Bomb

Well Like i said before we had this little white GTI in our drive. It was to be a local club project car. But due to lack of interest, money and time. It was to be sold off, or parted out. So after talking to the man who donated it to the club we struck a deal cash changed hands and it was now a project for James.
To be quite honest he had already worked on it a lot while it was a club car. He gutted almost the entire car just so he could learn the ins and outs of a project.  He needed only a little help with the front seats, dash and door cards. Other than that he did it all by himself. And I am happy to say he was only 10 at the time.
I have to say that watching him figure things out and then asking a question here and there  was great. It taught me a little about being patient and he learned a hell of a lot. Some of the best times we have had on these cars.
So now we  start with the day we brought it home.

Upon arriving we were greeted with this very dirty bunny.  It had a few dents, a little rust & was missing the stock front seats. I looked the floor over and it seemed to be in fair shape for a car of it's age in the Midwest rust belt.
Looking at the motor i saw it was a non A/C car and it was missing some key motor parts but nothing to major.
And we were told we may be able to get a parts car to. Initially we thought the floor in this one was way beyond repair(more on that later) We spied the parts car tucked away next to another rarity in these parts, A Transporter
Sorry to say that it was already spoken for and only there for storage. So we drug it out to look at it. And there it sat for another year and a half to lonely VW's in a cold dark barn.
The trip home was mostly uneventful, but we did blow the OD out of the  tranny an the way up. We stopped and washed it, i was surprised at how much better it looked.
We managed to get the missing snowflake wheel thrown in. And next thing you know it was at home safe and sound.
Only to be worked on by James, myself and two friends both  named Mike for the next year and a half.
